 Henna Heals

*UPDATE - After 5 years, the organization closed in 2015. The Henna Heals team released this statement:

"Our mission was to shine a light on "Henna Crowns", to help you feel beautiful, and to give you the confidence to be a walking work of art. After five years (2010-2015) we feel we have achieved our goals...But the Henna Crown Movement is still going strong. Whether you are seeking to give or receive a henna crown, you are helping to continue and grow the Henna Crown Movement. Thank you!"

I was a member of the international organization Henna Heals since 2014. Henna Heals was a global community of artists who created and advocated for "henna crowns" as a form of empowerment for people experiencing hair loss. The Henna Heals management team was a small group of passionate volunteers in Toronto, Canada, who developed educational resources for henna artists world wide (focusing on health and safety). It was also an online platform to connect those interested in a henna crown with reputable artists in their local area. The artists of Henna Heals work with only the best quality, all-natural ingredients in their henna paste.

My first henna crown was for a young woman with Alopeica, which was professionally photographed by Jessica Daniels of Jessica Daniels Photography. These pictures were featured on a Buzzfeed story, an HLN article, a spread in The Columbian, and a story on both KGW Portland news and KATU news.
